Hello
Angela Zachary here! I am a third-generation textile artist with over 20 years of experience teaching and building creative community. My passion for handcrafting is rooted in a deep commitment to sustainability—encouraging others to mend, reuse, and make with intention.
I specialize in a wide range of textile arts, including sewing, knitting, and upcycling/mending/adorning techniques such as sashiko, needle felting, and loom darning, as well as hand embroidery, macramé, and accessory-making.
My classes blend tradition with personal expression, inviting students of all levels to discover the joy and mindfulness of working with their hands.
Whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or returning to a craft you love, what I bring to any experience is patience, skill, and a contagious creative spirit to every workshop.
My Story
I was fortunate to grow up in a deeply creative home. Surrounded by artists of all kinds, I absorbed the language of creativity from an early age—though I never thought to call myself an artist. Instead, I pursued a career in Human Resources, specializing in training and development. For many years, I taught adults how to use productivity tools in large corporate environments. Along the way, I quietly nurtured the textile skills I had learned as a child—sewing, mending, making—treating them as a beloved hobby.
That creative thread followed me throughout my career, especially in my final role in a human-centered design department at Ford, where I was encouraged to blend innovation with empathy. It was there that I truly began to see creativity not just as an artistic expression, but as a powerful tool for connection and problem-solving.

Am I an artist now? Was I all along? I believe we all are. Creativity is not reserved for a select few—it lives in our choices, our gestures, our problem-solving, and our play. We create daily through movement, expression, care, and connection. Each of us contributes to the fabric of our lives and the lives of others simply by being human. We are all creative beings, shaped by experience, emotion, and intention—woven together with every fiber of our being. This is the Artful Fiber.

Today, I am committed to teaching, learning, and sharing the joy of upcycling, handcraft, and community. I feel most alive when empowering others to explore their creativity, to begin again with compassion, and to find beauty in the process as much as the outcome.
